I've got a P320C coming my way, and want to put night sights on it....most likely the Ameriglo Hackathorns. What's the difference between the #6 and the #8 sights? Is it important? Many thanks.

The number represents the height of the sight, so yes, it is important.

The rule of thumb is #8 front/#8 rear for 9mm and .357Sig, and #6 front/#8 rear for .40 and .45. As it is a generalization, it is always possible that night sights may not hit exactly where you want them to, even if you get the "right" set. But your choices are limited by the available sizes offered.

Just be aware that for some reason SIG has been shipping 9mm P320c and p320sc pistols (maybe others as well) with #6/#8 night sights installed. Some have reported theirs came with #8/#8 so they're not consistent.

My three 9mm shoot just fine with the #6/#8 combination but I shoot only to 15 yds. But it's contrary to their previous production of other platforms.

Beware of a man whose only pistol is a 1911, he's probably very good with it.

Taller.
The way SIG does their numbering is a tad different.
Numbers up, impact up.
As I understand it, each increment of change on the front site changes the POI by 1" @ 25 meters. So the difference between a #6F and a #8F, the #8F will hit higher by 2" at 25 meters.
Higher number front sights are actually shorter.

Numbers up, impact up.
For the rear, each increment results in a change of 2" POI at 25 meters. Besides for suppressor sights, there aren't many vendors that offer rear night sights that aren't #8 rears.
Higher number rear sights are actually taller.

Rear Sight Heights:
#4 = 5.24mm (0.21 inches)
#5 = 5.52mm (0.22 inches)
#6 = 5.80mm (0.23 inches)
#7 = 6.07mm (0.24 inches)
#8 = 6.35mm (0.25 inches)
#9 = 6.62mm (0.26 inches)
#10 = 6.90mm (0.27 inches)

Front Sight Heights:
#5 = 6.01mm (0.235 inches)
#6 = 5.88mm (0.230 inches)
#7 = 5.74mm (0.225 inches)
#8 = 5.60mm (0.220 inches)
#9 = 5.46mm (0.215 inches)
#10 = 5.32mm (0.210 inches)

I'm sure that's clear as mud.

Before you order new sights, I would shoot the gun with the factory sights and note what numbers they are and where they hit.
If they shoot to point of aim, order the same numbers.
If they do not shoot to point of aim, adjust accordingly when you order the new sights.
