I have a late model GSR 1911 that I use for competition. Novak night sights on it.
Yesterday, while practicing in bright sunlight, I realized that I wasn't seeing the sights very well. I switched over to my P226 with the 22 conversion kit and the cheapo white dot 3-dot sights and they were clear as a bell. Outcome: Need new sights. The Novak tritium's don't have enough contrast for bright light. I realize that I can get three dots from Sig to fit the pistol and would prefer to do the swap and alignment myself for a number of reasons. How do I deal with the roll pin removal where the front sight is staked to the frame? Never been there and done that. All advice appreciated. I've not removed the roll pin on a Sig, but I have on a couple of .45 Government Models; the pins on those I worked on drives straight down through the sight and through the slide and I was able to remove them that way with an appropriately sized punch. Remove the slide, remove the bbl and take a look and see if you can see the bottom of the roll pin.

Thanks, that was exactly the ticket. I was afraid that the pin was too far back to reach with a punch. Not the case.
