Thanks for bringing that up.

That's correct about the SAS frame P228 (from 2009), because its frame was actually a P229 (9mm) frame that SIG mated to a P228 upper assembly to create a factory FrankenP228.

And, since we're talking factory FrankenP228, might as well add the P228R to this. Also from 2009, its frame was also a P229R (9mm) frame. So, it's also DAK convertible.

So, to answer OP, only 2 variants of the P228 are DAK ready, the SAS frame P228 and the rail frame P228 from 2009. Virgin P228s are not DAK ready.

M, I think I should include this little note in my P228 "factoids" thread. Thanks again.

ETA: To make things complete, I just check the stainless frame P228's frame. And, not to my surprise, it is DAK ready, also, since the frame is derived from a P229 (.40) frame.

The DAK cut out on the P229 but not on the P228.

Please, note that the P228R here is from the smaller batch that SIG released in 2011. The first batch from 2009 was in larger quantity. The actual numbers? Unknown.

Thanks all, if not able to convert, could the d/a trigger pull be lowered to the 4.5 in D/A? I love my 228 but has several features like the 12.5 d/a pull,, since the Dept purchased the 229 dak I kinda like it, would like it in 9mm instead of .40.

Never heard of anything lower than 7 lb DA pull in a DA/SA gun.
Robert Burke can get the DA down to 7 lbs and the SA to 2.25 lbs for your SIG with his Competition Level Action job.

I remembered because at one time, I was going to get one of the SAS framed P228s and have the slide "Faux Stainlessed" by CCR and make me a SAS/DAK P228 to look like all my other tu-toned SAS/DAK pistols with the Kung-Fu wood grips.
