I purchased one used that has reportedly only had 100 rounds through it. The pistol will not strip the last round out of the magazine. The magazines are stainles 8 round, and dimpled.
After locking the slide back I can see that the cartridge appears to be properly seated in the magazine, however under closer inspection it is seated lower in the magazine preventing the slide from stripping it out. If I push the cartridge down a little by the bullet, it pops back in place and feeds properly. The pistol does this with both magazines that came with it, and two other proven magazines I borrowed from a coworker so I will have enogh to qualify with it next Tuesday. What is causing the pistol to do this? |

Look at the slide catch which the magazine acts upon after the last round and see if it is interfering with the feeding up of the last round in the magazine.

There is some copper on the very end of the tab, but when the cartridge is stuck the tab is not in contact with the bullet. So it looks like this may be the culprit.
When I was looking at it today, I was able to remove the magazine with the cartidge still in the stuck position. This made it look as though the dimples in the magazine are also part of the problem. GerryR thanks, is there anything else I should look at in the pistol? |

To confirm that the slide lock tab was the problem, I loaded a dummy 40 S&W cartridege into the magazine and then a 45 acp.
The 40 was small enough to engage the feed lips, but small enough to avoid the tab. Sure enough, the gun fed both cartridges into the barrel. Just finished getting my RA from Sig. Thanks again GerryR! |
