P220 - If I have the magazine out and I pull the slide all the way back, should the slide catch on the slide lever and stay back? Mine won't catch, it just returns to the normal position. I know I didn't explain this very well.
Thanks, paul |

No. Without a magazine in place (empty), the slide should not hold open. It's the tab on the follower of an empty mag that pushes up the slide catch and locks the slide open.

Good question which will lead to you better understand how the gun functions. It's actually the magazine follower in an empty magazine that pushs up the slide catch release which causes the slide to lock back on an empty magazine. Without the magazine that is not happening. You can lock the slide back without a magazine or with a loaded magazine by pushing up on the magazine catch with your thumb.

It will not lock back without a magazine.
It is the magazine follower that pushes the slide catch lever up into position to lock the slide once the magazine runs out of cartridges. ---------- Yes, as a matter of fact I do own a gun. Free Classic P-Series Sig Armorer services on Long Island and around the NYC area. |
