I just purchased an MGW sightpro universal pusher.
You buy different slide shoes for different model guns and it will prevent the slide from being compressed.
You can only go so far any direction before you eventually drive off a cliff
I had Trijicon HDs put on an HK P30L slide recently, and the gunsmith had to homebrew some shims/gap fillers (edit: shoes) to reinforce the slide front and rear where pressure, apparently a lot, was being placed by the sight pusher. Never realized this was a concern. Glad you were able to fix your slide.
