Uberti 1847 Colt Walker Arbor Shim
I just made a .095" shim for the short Arbor on my Uberti Walker. Here are some pictures of the process I used. Began with old toilet lid bolts made of brass. After filing looked like this.

After filing down and cutting off head of bolt.

Polished and fit to slide fit for Arbor hole in barrel assembly.

Nice fit in Arbor hole.

Completed. Locks up like a steel vault now. Wedge goes in same amount each time, no flex in barrel assembly, consistent barrel gap at forcing cone. I'm very pleased. I also tuned the action 2.5 pound trigger pull, lighter hammer spring. Installed SliX-Shot stainless steel nipples.

Every Uberti Colt Reproduction I have seen has a short Arbor. They all need this modification to make them consistent shooters. Original Colts had had fit Arbors, too expensive and time consuming for Italian clones I guess. I hear Pieta's, some of the late model ones are better and may not need shimmed. You have to check them as well though. Some do.

Nice job. For the price the Uberti charges, no home gunsmithing should be required.

And a secure barrel is an aid when it comes time to whack a surly bartender.

Nice work! And your charge lever retention device is cool.
And I spent a great deal of time in your fine city going to OPOTA.

My nephew is the firearms instructor at Indiana State Police Accadamy. I taught him how to shoot his first BB Gun. Now I tell people I taught him everything he knows! LOL
He hit the bullseye dead center first shot, I bet him $10.00 he couldn’t do it again, next shot looked like a pair of tits. I quit betting him and paid up! He is a natural, much better pistol or rifle shot than I ever was!
My grandson is a Fairfield County Deputy Sheriff.
We live in rural Madison County, about 15 minutes from London, but our mail address is London, and we go there often.
Thank you for serving!
I salute LEO’s all the time!
Many are also veterans as you know.

Some more info on shim modification, why it's necessary, other ways to do it.

You may wish to read his articles on tuning the Pietta, in fact I recommend Uberti users read this first as well.
