I have two Sigs that I need to replace the night sights on. I ordered the MGW sight pusher from Top Gun. How do I make sure that I don't lose the way my sights are currently adjusted? Is there some special way to mark the slide so that the new ones go on in the same spot that the old ones went off?
Also, any idea who would have the "freshest" Trijicon night sights? I don't want to buy them from some place where they've been sitting on a shelf for 6 years eating up their half-life.
Thanks,
paul

You can send the sights back to Trijicon and they will put new inserts in them and you will have their full 12 years guaranty. (www.trijicon.com)

As far as getting them back in the same spot, take a marking pen and mark along the sight dovetail edge before pushing them out and after you insert the new or recharged units to the same line, wipe the marker off with denatured alchohol.

Look on the Trijicon sight itself, it should be dated.

I use two separate pieces of tape to mark the position of the old sights.

Just check your current sights. If they looked centered, just center your new ones. Then just take the tool with you to the range and dial them in.

We burn through night sights very regularly. If you get a set from us, they will be '09 production.

TGS,
I just bought the Sig sight pusher and some dvd's from you. Good to know that your sights will be fresh. GerryR (thanks!) mentioned that Trij will replace the inserts, so I will check into that first.
I like the tape idea - I'm not a good enough shot (accurate/consistent) to dial in the sights on my own.
Thanks for the info and the help everyone!

Install and center the best you can then benchrest shoot and adjust as necessary. Take the pusher with you to the range ~ it only takes a minute to do and re test via your benchrest POI. Cool

Not trying to hijack the post but... can you just send the slide to have the inserts replaced?

Yes. Contact TRIJICON or check their website. It cost's a little extra for them to R&R the sites onto your slides. Turn around time is about ten days. As of March '09, they quoted me $54 to replace the tubes w/ return shipping.
