Inch by inch, the slow erosion of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms will continue because the supposed pro-2nd community denies the Duty to Keep and Bear Arms that the Constitution recognizes.
The 2nd guarantees nothing, but the good People taking up their constitutional mandate to be Militia guarantees all rights.

Nope. If they're going to require this for a gun purchase, then the same should be required for:

-Voting
-Practicing a religion
-Giving a speech
-Reading a book
-Stopping unreasonable searches and seizures

And the list goes on......

Oh, the thought police want to check your social media posts, how Orwellian of them.

Yet another reason to never set foot in New York again!

I have posted on other forums that if the good gun owners of NY don't think that if this passes it is only the FIRST step their heads are in the sand. Next will be: Well since this was such a great idea let's check the social media of all current gun owners to see if they deserve to keep their guns.

This kind of Orwellian-thought police concept isn't just a slippery slope, it's a Teflon- coated super giant slalom on a whole bunch of different levels.

But as we know, this is all part of their long game. The opposition isn't stupid. They've 'opened the door' by introducing the idea. New ideas are sometimes initially surprising...even shocking. But over time, the idea becomes less so...and then gradually rationalization and acceptance starts to slowly spread. And eventually another increment falls into place. All in the name of 'safety.'

Make it more & more difficult to buy (dissuasion), then make it more & more difficult to keep...just keep saying it's for everyone's safety.

It's a slow and steady defamation campaign against law-abiding gun owners, and particularly the NRA. When have you ever heard anything, absolutely anything, genuinely positive about the NRA in the MSM? Despite all the safety courses, etc. they provide and the millions of upstanding members, when have you heard a single positive story about the NRA in the MSM? The vast majority of the coverage is usually something along the lines of 'XYZ common sense firearms safety legislation is facing strong opposition from the NRA!!'

The only thing that comes time mind recently is Mr. Willeford on the Texas Church shooter, and that certainly wasn't highlighted in major positive light.

Until such time that the image starts to turn around and/or the MSM & gun control advocates continue to ignore the facts (like places with strictest gun control laws have some of the highest crime), law-abiding gun owners will continue to face an uphill battle on an ever steepening slope.

To that end, law abiding gun owners need to become more active participants in their own self preservation. They need to get off their a$$es, vote, write their legislators, donate, participate. They also need to think nationally, and support pro 2A efforts in other states. Because if it happens in someone else's state...it can happen in yours.

The NRA is far from perfect, but imagine if every law abiding gun owner became a member and donated just $20? That would likely go a long way towards bringing vast majority of these gun control efforts to a screeching halt.

$.02 Worth.

You forgot about "How to self abort a full term fetus"

New York would fall all over themselves to get that permit for you.

Why does everyone assume everyone is connected to social media? A guy I used to shoot with when asked for his email would always say, "I don't have an email." He was looked at strangely but what could you say. yes, it is possible to live without email, cell phone, and Facebook.

A while back when things were going crazy on a questionnaire my pain / back doctor asked if I had any guns in the house. I simply said no. He looked at me strangely because we had just went shooting the week before. Lying is not just for politicians.
