Baltimore City Council Violates Preemption,
Passes Lost or Stolen Ordinance! Please Contact the Mayor Today! Yesterday, Monday, August 11, the Baltimore City Council approved legally questionable legislation that would force law abiding gun owners to report the loss or theft of their firearm to the Baltimore City Police within 48 hours. Any person who violates this ordinance will be subject to a $250 fine. This ordinance violates the spirit and letter of the Maryland’s preemption law which dictates that the state has sole authority over the regulation of firearms. To view the ordinance, please click here. This past session, both the Maryland House Judiciary Committee and Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee defeated similar legislation (House Bill 880 and Senate Bill 585) put forward by the Baltimore delegation. This is an attempt by the Baltimore City Council to usurp the legislative powers of the Maryland General Assembly. It also fails to address the true source of crime in Baltimore, the criminals, and victimizes lawful gun owners for the actions of criminals. Please contact Mayor Sheila Dixon TODAY and respectfully urge her veto this illegal attack on the Second Amendment. Mayor Dixon can be contacted by phone at (410) 396-3835, by fax at (410) 576-9425, or email mayor@baltimorecity.gov. Apparently, we are the 'United States of Mayors'.
All these mayors from all these 'big shot' cities lately are gettin on my nerves. Let's pass an Act where Mayors are limited in their total authority. Sig P226 CPO 9mm(W. Either that or a law where Mayors are personally liable for all legal fees in successful court challenges to laws those Mayors initially proposed should be laws. Not just the plaintiffs'/defendants' costs, mind you, but legal costs the cities run up defending those bad ideas!

The dipshit mayor of Philly just signed a similar law (also in violation of the State's constitution), though I believe the fine is $1900 - WTF!

Some one needs to take the city to court, and have the law thrown out. This is where the NRA would be helpful, if they care.
