The wife just sent me to Whole Foods for some cleaning stuff that she can't find elsewhere. Lo and behold, they have a no carry policy, so I just left.
Should we have a place on the forum to list anti carry businesses? I know it's their right but I imagine most of us would rather give our business to someone who is pro gun(or at least not anti gun). Just a thought. |

Given the choice I'll go to a pro-rights business every time.

Where you live, are you required to obey the posting you saw? Here in TN, if the sign does not follow specific guidelines, it is not legally viable, and I ignore it.

I know what you mean, I just moved from TN to NC. In TN it has to show the statute #, right? I'll have to double check that here in NC. Thanks for the reminder. |

According to TN Code:
You may have some similar guidelines, but I'm not familiar with NC law. --- Grayguns P226R .357SIG -- P226 W.German -- 590A1 -- M4gery -- Ruger Mark III --- -- Fear is the mind-killer. I've never seen a posting here in Mass prohibiting firearms at a private business. Plenty of signs prohibiting cell phones though.

Even being in a heavily populated liberal state, I had a similar experience a few years ago with Blockbuster video which has become something different now but at the time they had a sign in the window stating their stupid policy of no concealed carry in the store or no law abiding gun owners were allowed is how I took it and made enough complaints, withdrew my membership etc. their policy chainged shortly after, at least the sign went away as they were loosing business.. I doubt I had anything to do with it but I did let quite a few friends know and a few local gunstores which passed the word also.. I really get pissed about the aforementioned store policies and avoid them like the plague!!!! In my opinion every gun owner that comes in contact with one of those biased, uneducated, niave morons that put up such a sign should let them know they will never get a dime out of ya. It's all about money in the end for them anyway, so they will get the hint even if ya don't change their mind!!!
If your not livin on the edge, your taking up too much space. |

I've never run across any business posting these signs here in MI. (The Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners (MCRGO) posts a listing of businesses that are not gun-friendly - though some are rather obvious like hospitals or extensions of hospitals. It's probably not all-inclusive but I'll be MORE than happy to have them add any that I may run across.
As an aside, Brad (Appliance Brad) Benzing's site (Shooters' Alliance for Firearms Rights (SAFR)) lists gun-friendly businesses in his area. A twist but a rather nice one, I think. ~Tom When the only tool you own is a hammer, every problem begins to resemble a nail. - Abraham Maslow |

I have brought this up here before and thought this might be a great time to say it again.
Paypal is one of those anti-gun places. Also, Cabelas (where I purchased my most recent Sig), does not like people carrying in the store. If they can tell you're carrying, They will ask you to leave it in your car. I don't think they are so much anti-carry, I think they don't want to freak out others. But concealed carry means just that. Keep it concealed. "All Men die, few men ever really live" |

LAst time I was in the KC Cabela's, I asked the door greeter if they required CCW to check firearms aor if they had a locker available as I am on the motorcycle. He told me, concealed means it stays concealed and nobody's business but your own as far as Cabela's is concerned.

Whole Foods is anti-gun? What!?
No real surprise there, anyplace that would sell a no egg, no milk, no flour, no sugar, no taste chocolate cake defiantly has something wrong. But seriously, I really like the idea of a place in the forum to list ant-gun establishments. This would be very useful to me as a picky consumer. I believe in Missouri it only is a problem if they see you carrying and ask you to leave. If you don't then they can call the police and the police can ask you to leave. I don't think just because there is a sign it is necessarily illegal except for the few listed places like courthouses, etc...

In Texas the sign must be of specified size, contain actual statute verbage in two languages, or it doesn't mean squat. Anybody can post a sign but that does not alter the law. Have you ever seen the signs at airports that say "passengers only beyond this point"? If the pilots obeyed those signs no one would go anywhere.

I can't remember if I heard it here or not, but Citibank is also supposed to be antigun. Here is a link to an article about it.
