LOL, but the Left/Libs/Dems constantly point to England as THE example of superior gun control.....

London is now more crime ridden and dangerous than New York City, with rape, robbery and violent offences far higher on this side of the Atlantic.

The latest statistics, published earlier this week, revealed that crime across the UK was up by 13 per cent, with a surge in violence in the capital blamed for much of the increase.

Seizing on the figures, US President, Donald Trump, claimed the rise could be linked to the “spread of radical Islam”, adding that it demonstrated the need to “keep America safe”.

So, I took a look at that article, and the first thing that struck me was the photo.

Now, I emigrated here (States), from England, about 16 years ago now.

I can honestly say that in all of those years I have never seen a US LEO patrolling the streets with an MP5, MP7, or AR type rifle, while in general day-to-day activities.

I understand that they keep they long arms in the trunk....

Point I'm trying to get at is, in an everyday situation in England, the British cop probably stands about a 1 in 99 chance of meeting an armed citizen. If that even...

Whereas in the States, I'm sure there's probably a 20% chance of meeting an armed citizen, in general day-to-day duties.

Do the British cops Really need to walk around with Sub-guns strapped to their chest ??

I don;'t think so....

You disarm the citizen, there should be absolutely no need for the amount of officers patrolling the streets with open carried long-guns.

Quote from the National Office of Statistics -

The murder rate in England and Wales has risen sharply for the first time in a decade at a time when police have diverted detectives to investigate historic sex abuse and allegations against tabloid newspapers.

New figures show that the number of murders and manslaughter deaths increased by 14 per cent last year bringing the annual total to 574, or 11 deaths a week.

Officials at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the surge was concentrated in London and the South East and described it as “peculiar”.

However, police sources said contributory factors may have been the re-deployment of detectives in London – where a fifth of the additional murders took place – as well as growing violence among migrants, including organised gangs.

Murders in the capital jumped from 99 to 113, most in the Metropolitan Police area, while in the rest of the South East totals rose from 11 to 18 in Kent, seven to 16 in Thames Valley, seven to 15 in Surrey, five to 13 in Sussex and 13 to 21 in Essex. The rises buck the trend of the last decade. Murders and manslaughters have dropped or remained static every year since 2004.

Let's just put that into context, given the UK population of just over 65 million people.

The year in question saw a TOTAL of 574 people feloniously done to death by a variety of methods, in the entire United Kingdom.

That is one person in 0.0008830769%, or 1 person in 80 thousand.

In the USA, the number of people feloniously done to death in a typical year was around 16,238. This averages out to around 44 murders per day. These figures, which are based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's 2011 statistics, include 11,068 deaths by firearms. In Chicago alone in 2016 that amounted to 762 victims.

THAT overall figure is 0.00495061% or 1 person in 5 thousand.

So, 1 in 80000, or 1 in 5000. You do the math.

Your point, then, is what, exactly?

FYI, police officers routinely walk around the streets, as you note, outside the Houses of Parliament, in major airports and train stations, carrying G36 or MP5 et al. It may or may not have somehow escaped your notice that between 1969 and the late 1990s, the UK was subjected to a mass of so-called Republican Irish terrorism, and the habit of protecting the massed public began back then.

My point Tac, and I don't mean any disrespect to you, as I remember the 80's and 90's very well there...
Is that If they feel that the police need to carry that much armament exposed, maybe they should think again about allowing the civilian population to be armed, and conceal and carry.

Including from the so-far un-named person who was shot dead yesterday, there have been a TOTAL of FIVE gun-related incidents in London so far this year - they are -

Wednesday night's shooting on Hamilton Road marks the fifth gun-related incident in London this year, and the first in which a person was actually hit with a bullet. Here's a rundown of incidents so far this year:

June 17: House on Cedarhollow Boulevard struck by three bullets. Family inside was unhurt. Police charge 17-year-old two months later.

March 29: Townhouse on North Centre Road complex struck by multiple bullets. Nobody hurt.

Feb. 18: Townhouse in Huron Street public housing complex struck by at least three bullets. Police discover damage five days later after housing authority staff found spent casings. Nobody hurt.

Aug. 29: Bullets struck two vehicles during a shooting in a Wavell Street complex. Witnesses reported altercation between two men before gunfire. Police have arrest warrant for Ayanle Aden, 23, on more than a dozen weapons and drug charges.

Oct. 26: 19-year-old shot on Hamilton Road, near Rectory Street. Police are seeking a suspect who’s described as a black man with a muscular build, about 20 years old, five-foot-eight with a scar on his left cheek. He was wearing a red jacket, red pants with white stripes down the legs and the AC Milan soccer club logo near the right front pocket and red shoes.

Note, please, that in both cases where a description has been given, one IS black and the other has a name that would not usually be associated with anybody who is NOT black.

Fact - most crime, gun-related, drug-related, gun and drug-related, gang-related, gang, drug and gun-related, is carried out by the non-white part of the UK population. Second highest proportion carried out, particularly in the East of the country where there is a large influx of Eastern Europeans and Balts, is carried out by Eastern Europeans and Balts, many of whom come to this country already in possession of an impressive rap-sheet in their own country, often for rape, murder, or both.

I made 4 business trips to northern England in 1998. I was told that once I was dropped off at the hotel at the end of each day, I was never to leave the hotel property unescorted under any circumstances. I asked why and was told, "As soon as you open your mouth, everybody's going to know you're a Yank. You WILL be attacked and robbed. Perhaps worse. ". That was almost 20 years ago. Can't imagine its any better today.

I am not sure if the left really cares if gun bans work or not. As long it accomplishes there goal of disarming the population they have accomplished there goal.

Accepting your figure of 16,238 murders per year, with a US population of approx 323,000,000, that works out to a rate of 1 murder per 19,891. (323,000,000 ÷ 16,238 = 19,891). Not good, but not as bad as 1 in 5000.

What is the number supposed to be? I ask that because statistics are great and all, but they are no more than a scoreboard of how we are doing now, versus historically what we have done. People have been killing one another since the invention of people and killing. And they will continue to as long as evil exists in this world. As long as the left cuddles up to it, hoping for votes all the while equally hoping that it kills them last, things aren't going to change in the area of "Everyone is oppressed, everyone is a victim, and fake news is acceptable as long as it is our fake news" that the left loves to quote.

Nothing will change. I expect that things will get worse.

(As ask that in a general tone, not directed at Ranger in any way)

The UK’s current “troubles” are a self-inflicted wound caused largely by their efforts to push multiculturalism down their subject’s throats.
