I wouldn't mistake Ontario and Quebec for Canada any more than I'd mistake Mass. for the US. We're rapidly moving towards a majority Conservative Government. In the interim, we're moving to a vote on Nov. 4 to abolish the long gun registry. Certainly, by the labor of our own hands. They've not been idle. |

I moved from Massachusetts to Texas 10 years ago. I am a Life Member of GOAL. I still get the newspaper from them. Every month when I get it I read a few of the articles. It makes me thank G-d I'm a gun owner in Texas. The mindset of firearms ownership between the two states is light years apart. I would never willingly live in Mass again. As I've mentioned to people here, it was easier for me to get my concealed handgun license in Texas as a private citizen, who teaches school, then it was for me working as a correctional officer with the Barnstable County Sheriffs Department in Mass 12 years ago. Far easier!

I hear ya there brother. My brother lives in Texas. Great State to be in. As Provinces go, Alberta is about as far Conservative as things go. There is a pretty strong movement growing in Alberta to seperate. Socially Libertarian. Fiscally Conservative. Pro fucking gun. Then we have 'other' places. French Canadian provinces that seem a bit more French than Canadian. Howsoever it is, it is always good to remember that not everyone has the latitude to choose where they live. And that for many such places, like minded people are fighting hard for their rights. Freedom for some is a gift they live underneath. Others pay for it in their own generation. Most live somewhere squarely in the middle of compromise. |

Massachusetts has problems.
I'm a Boston resident who holds a class A high cap license. Braintree rifle and pistol is my club The people who get elected play the game well, they preach about safety, they make valid points and turn the conclusion towards the fact that 'guns' are a problem when really, crime is the problem, not "guns" Well meaning but otherwise ignorant people eat this nonsense up, because of course, nobody wants to promote crime. Famous people (or maybe infmaous) had made calimes that "the streets would flow red with blood" if certain thigns weren't done to "control guns". the fact that this never happened has just been routinely ignored, just like the facts about firearms in general in this state The facts are that our Governor promotes legislation that makes illegal acts more illegal. And he does this by restricting my rights- becasue the only people he can affect with that BS are the people who obey laws- exactly the people who are not the problem! The tragic death of the child by self-inflicted gunshot due to a micro-uzi is fascinating to me, becasue nobody blames the father for allowing his child to be in such a dangerous situation to begin with Anyway, it's very easy to blame the residents of MA for our gun laws. However, the people in MA are not represented well by our elcetd officials. They pander to the masses and then take their own political agenda, constiuency wishes be damned. Behaving as if the people in MA are all to blame is ignorant and wrong. Most of the people here have been hoodwinked into thinking that "gun control=safety". That pablum is spoon-fed to them. Look at the Senate race picture- how many dems? 5? And they say things like "I support people's rights" and then say "we need gun control" as if they aren't talking bull- the document stands or falls as one. I don't need due process right now, so should it be restricted and turned into a priveledge becasue I don't really need it often? NO! Its my right- just like the right to keep and bear arms The people in this state who are not being deceived actively by pols are being silenced by popular misconception made into 'fact' by the news media But saying that the people here are just reaping what they sowed so I have what I deserve is wrong. I didn't sow none of it brother. patrick is losing support as is his good buddy the potus. It isn;t enough by a long mile, and Menino has to go too. |

Chris,
A newsman here in Canada by the name of Rex Murphy encapsulated the same issues you have mentioned in a report about the 'useless' gun registry. All valid points IMO. I think you would like and agree with the video. video here Policies like this target low lying fruit with little risk. It is generally a cheap sell out of the law abiding public. |

I suspect that that's the idea. "The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." --Norman Thomas |

Well, so much for that happening. At least 51% of the people who rot in boston are stupid. I moved to this state 3 years ago and I am literally counting the days until I can move out. Sig P239 .40 cal Sig P226 9mm Two-Tone |

Yeah, I heard that news this morning on teh radio. Great way to start my day. I've noticed his speech gets worse when he wants to avoid a question, and he's very clear if he's reaciving congratulations for something. Nobody will have trouble making out what he's saying today I bet |
