Yesterday, Sunday July 13, MA Governor Deval Patrick (D) filed a special appropriations bill for the 2008 fiscal year. Within this bill, which has yet to receive a bill number, sections 24-27 will drastically increase certain firearm license fees.

Sections 24 & 25 will increase state licensed firearm dealer’s fees from $100 for three years to $250. Then within that three-year period, licensed dealers will be charged an additional $100 inspection fee per year. This tactic would turn a $100 three-year dealer's license into a $450 three-year license.

Section 26 would increase a resident License to Carry fee from $100 for six years to $200 for six years and Section 27 would increase a non-resident License to Carry fee from $100 for one year to $250 for one year.

I guess someone has to pay for his socialized healthcare system, might as well be law abiding gun owners.....

My parents moved to NH a while back, yet my Dad has to work in Boston. He tells me many ask him why he chose not to live in MA. I'm so proud that he tells them he refused to represented by those in charge in that state!!!
.
Sorry to hear about this BS

This bastard is typical of the moonbats in this state. A Beacon Hill protest by law abiding gun owners is being organized as I type this.

Keep smiling. People will wonder what you're up to.

Keep us posted on that protest, I will be there.

I have no problem telling everyone I meet how much I hate this state. I work with a lot of people who drive down from NH or ME, I used to wonder why they would drive an hour each way....now i am starting to see

From Aug 1:

Governor's Fee Increase - The Governor's proposal to increase firearm license fees was defeated thanks to the quick action of Rep. Denis Guyer in filing an amendment to remove the increased fees from the bill. There was a strong showing for Rep. George Peterson's amendment in the House to actually decrease the fees to $40, but the Senate did not concur with the House on the action to decrease the fees. In the end the fees remain the same which is still a tremendous victory for lawful gun owners having sent a very strong message to the Governor.

S.1401 - GOAL's version of the Katrina bill filed by Senator Richard Moore was passed in both the Senate and the House and is waiting final enactment prior to going to the Governor's desk. This final step can normally happen in an informal session and should be completed next week. Another great victory for lawful gunowners.

Disarmed people are, at best, wards of the state. An armed population is comprised of free citizens, an unarmed population is comprised of subjects. Fear the government that fears your guns.
