My father has been a life member since about 1948-49. For awhile in my growing up years I was a junior member. Sometime during high school I essentially lost interest in firearms until my Army years in the mid- and later-'60s. After a long hiatus, I took up rifle and pistol shooting again three years ago and joined the NRA as an annual member. Last year there apparently was some kind of legacy deal as Dad took out life memberships for my brother and me as Christmas presents. Personally, I may not agree with NRA all the time about everything but it's the largest, best organized and most active advocate for the Second Amendment. Further, NRA seems the most realistic of the firearms advocacy groups when it comes time to get what's "doable" politically. None of us much cares for the compromises that erode some of our firearms "rights" but we all must recognize there're are a whole lot of people out there who won't rest until we the law abiding are disarmed. I regard the NRA as my best Second Amendment rights advocacy group option.

Paid off my EPL a few months ago, well worth it. As as been stated before the NRA may not be perfect but they have the clout to get things done.

After the NRA you may want to look into your state organization if one exists.

Endowment Life Member; and bought a Life Membership for my son.

Although NRA did not institute the Heller lawsuit (and in fact was against taking it to SCOTUS), overall we need them desperately.

As gun rights organizations go, they all deserve support in membership. The NRA has a great youth program that promotes the value of gun ownership. What I like most about the NRA Smile

NRA Life Member , Maryland Shall Issue, Inc. **** But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government - The Declaration of Independence

My name is Mike, and I am a Life Member of the NRA. Every anti-right SOB hates the NRA, and that's good enough for me.

How is it that one person is offered a life membership for $400, and another paid $1000; and just today I received a call from the NRA and offered a lifetime membership for $750 with the jacket?

What gives?

Life member here also. Did the EPL thing more years ago than I can count. Also put my son in as a Legacy Life member a couple of years ago. I'll do the same for my daughter soon.

The NRA is effectively a victim of it's size. Do other groups do a better job? Yes! But....When it comes to lobby groups, size does matter!

Take the Nike approach, just do it!

------------------------------------------------------------
Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have. It is a weapon that we as Americans do have. Let that be understood by those who practice terrorism and prey upon their neighbors. - Ronald Reagan, Inaugural Address, January 20, 1981

Life member checking in.

"I'm not a shoot-first-ask-questions-later survivalist by any means, but I grew up in a neighbourhood where every second house was a bombsite -- a little like downtown Baghdad today. I have no heart for war, but I have no heart either to stand quietly waiting for someone to kill everyone in my neighbourhood before I look to protect myself. It is a tricky time for the West. The rules have changed. Don't get fooled again folks. Remember Pearl Harbour." - Pete Townshend

EPL life member...almost paid off. Any organization that can be a big-ass thorn in the side of anti-gunners gets my support.
