OK, so I have sold my Sig P250C on Gunbroker to a gentleman in New Jersey. My ad states that if this gun is not legal where you live, do not bid. I just received his Postal Money Order and a copy of the FFL to ship to, but in doing a little research, it looks like the 16 round mag is an issue. I've had one comment that the mag only shows to 15 on the back and that is all that matters. Everything else that you read, including my ad, states that the mag holds 16 rounds. New Jersey is a 15 round max state, isn't it? I don't have any problem sending this guy his money back and relisting. I don't want to get him or I jacked up legally. Any advice?

Never heard of a 16-rd mag, but maybe they exist. Is it a 15-rd that you can squeeze an extra into? Or, are you counting one in the chamber?
Either way, yes, NJ is a 15-rd state. I would call his FFL to verify before shipping. Short of that, if you don't want to relist, just sell him the gun minus the mag and he can purchase legal ones and you can sell your mags. _________________________ Sig X-five Allround 9mm; HK45; S&W 686+ 4" wheelgun; Sig Mosquito Sport; Benelli SuperSport 12ga.; Spikes Tactical .22 AR15 |

The SIG 250 in 9mm come with a 16 round magazine. The one shot which was from the SIG factory direct and owned by a SIG employee has a 16 round magazine. The Sig literature lists 16 rounds (in 9mm).
I would guess 15 round magazines are available for NJ as the state law bans anything over 15 rounds. However, I haven't seen any listed in Sig's sight although I would guess at some point they would be made available. The only exemption is LE which would require a signed original letter from the Chief LEO authorizing such a purchase. In NJ he will have to supply a handgun purchase permit to the FFL he uses for the transfer. There will be a record on file of the origin of the handgun. Marking on the magazine have no bearing on the legality but what the capacity is will determine the legality. Either the purchaser is unaware of the state regulation or is ignoring it. Either way, he is in violation. The transferring FFL would probably refuse the transfer as it puts him in a hazardous position. Either way it isn't going to work out only causing you some grief and a delayed sale. Richard Scalzo Epping, NH |

Many of the initial round of P250's were shipped with 15 round mags. SIG replaced those with 16-round mags at the request of the owners. I have several of the 15 round mags. They are marked 15 rounds and will only hold 15 rounds. That said, the literature and web site advertises it as a 16 round gun, so I'm not sure what your stand should be on this. If it were me, I'd probably ship it if I had the 15 round mag(s).

I work for an FFL dealer in NJ. Sig is supplying us with P250 with 15 rd. mags. to which is stated on the back of the mags. I would sell him the gun. minus the mags. and let him get the 15 roundsers from Sig
