As a part of the Schengen/Dublin-agreement Switzerland is forced to adopt the EU firearms directives.

Shooters and gunowners started a referendum so that we had to vote if we are to adopt the new law or risk getting kicked out of the Schengen-Dublin-thing.

Long story short. The first results are in, we got our ass kicked, big time.

Well, the interesting part will be the three years period during which we will have to registers the millions of guns which are not yet registered by the government, since we could just make a sale contract with a private seller until end of 2008 and keep the contract for ten years... Which means those contracts doesn't exist anymore since... last year...

Especially when you know the European gun law is tightened every 5 years (it's officially announced) and they want a complete ban on all semi-automatics for civilians in 2025-2027.

But we trust our government to preserve our rights against a European law which is already violating several constitutional rights we had...

Wait ??? Mad

On the other hand: for me personally not much is changing. I already have lots of the stuff including the proper paperwork.

Since I now require an "exception"-permit for semi-autos I might as well start collecting full auto guns. They require the same kind of permit and have the same requirements regarding storage.

Time to shop for a FN MAG.

Scary stuff. Registration is the first step towards confiscation. Best of luck.
