Good SigForum Folks,

There are only a few days left before the travesty known as AB 962 becomes law in the State of California, unless Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoes it. For a description of what this law would do, please see here.

We have been actively calling, faxing and e-mailing the Governor, urging him to veto this legislation. Even if you are not in California, please help us with this effort:

Email the Governor and Ask Him to Veto AB 962:

Step 1: Go to http://www.Gov.Ca.Gov/interact
Step 2: Fill in your name and email address
Step 3: Select “GUN CONTROL” from the pull-down menu
Step 4: Click “SUBMIT”
Step 5: Select "Con," and type in your message. It must at least say "Please VETO AB 962."

Youtube's Nutnfancy has just posted a video with a pre-written e-mail which may help for guidance, found here. Please keep your e-mails respectful and professional.

For those of you in the other 49, please don't make the mistake of thinking, "Oh well, that's California for you. Sucks to be them." Of course, we here in California have real concerns about how this bill would affect availability, pricing of ammunition, etc. But beyond our own real concerns, this bill is a precursor to registration, here and elsewhere, plain and simple. They would keep state-wide records, including thumbprints, for all purchasers of handgun ammunition, which would be required in a face-to-face transaction. That's right, anytime you'd want to buy factory ammo to go plinking, shoot in a IDPA match, or whatever, they want a record of it. And guess who they expect to carry the added administrative costs, as well as the impact of having less availability through internet/mail order sales? That's right, the gun store owners, sporting goods stores, etc. who will pass on the added costs to the consumers. And unfortunately, in gun control matters, what happens in California does not stay in California. Gun control efforts here are often used as a template by so-called "anti-violence" advocates and coalitions for the rest of the nation. Recall that the first so-called Assault Weapons ban started here, in 1989. So please take action and help us all by urging our fine governor to do the right thing here, and stop this attempt at backdoor registration in its tracks.

Thanks for your help.

(916) 445-2841 (may have to hit redial a few times to get through) then: option 1, option 2, option 2, option 2 to oppose.

Ironic that the Terminator Commando would limit the freedoms of law abidding citizens.

I lived in CA for 5 years and I'm glad I don't any longer.

I tried getting a CCW for LA County, HA!.. only if you're a Judge, or celebrity. Outright discrimination.
